Jeffrey Preston Bezos (b. 1964) is an American business magnate, investor, and computer scientist best known for founding the online retailer Amazon in 1994, which he built into one of the world's largest and most influential technology companies. He later founded the aerospace company Blue Origin and, in 2013, acquired The Washington Post.
Early life and education
Jeffrey Preston Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. [1] He showed an early interest in science and technology and spent part of his childhood in Texas and Florida. He graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School and went on to study at Princeton University, where he earned degrees in electrical engineering and computer science. [2]
Founding Amazon
After working in the finance sector in New York, Bezos left a career on Wall Street to pursue the commercial potential of the rapidly growing internet. In 1994 he founded Amazon, initially as an online bookstore operating out of a garage in the Seattle area.
